
The year 2025 marked a historic milestone for Vietnam pepper, as export turnover surpassed USD 1.66 billion. Accordingly, this figure was up 26% year on year and represented the highest level ever recorded.
According to statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in December 2025 Vietnam exported 22,473 tons of pepper of all types. More specifically, this included 19,380 tons of black pepper and 3,093 tons of white pepper. Total export value reached USD 146.4 million, of which black pepper accounted for USD 119.8 million. Meanwhile, white pepper contributed USD 26.6 million.
Compared with November, export volume increased by 20.9% and export value rose by 20.5%. Compared with December 2024, export volume jumped 47.2%. At the same time, export value increased by 45.5%.
The average export price of black pepper in December stood at USD 6,485 per ton, while white pepper averaged USD 8,565 per ton. Compared with the previous month, the price of black pepper was down 0.5%. By contrast, the price of white pepper was up 6.1%.

Vietnam pepper
In terms of markets, the United States remained the largest export destination for Vietnam pepper, accounting for 27.7% with 6,233 tons. Accordingly, this figure was up 35.9% in comparison with November 2025. Other key markets included the UAE with 2,302 tons, China with 2,179 tons, Thailand with 1,261 tons, and Germany with 944 tons.
For the whole of 2025, Vietnam exported a total of 247,482 tons of pepper of all kinds. This included 212,279 tons of black pepper and 35,203 tons of white pepper. Total export turnover exceeded USD 1.66 billion, with black pepper contributing USD 1.37 billion. Meanwhile, white pepper accounted for USD 288.8 million.
Compared with 2024, export volume declined by 1.2%, equivalent to 3,118 tons. However, export value increased by 26%, or USD 343.4 million. As a result, 2025 became the year with the highest export turnover ever for Vietnam’s pepper industry.
The average export price in 2025 reached USD 6,607 per ton for black pepper and USD 8,629 per ton for white pepper. These figures represented increases of 36.2% and 33.6%, respectively, compared with the previous year.

Vietnamese white pepper
The United States continued to be Vietnam’s largest pepper export market in 2025, importing 50,577 tons and accounting for 22.3% of total exports. However, this figure was down 23.8% year on year. Other major markets included the UAE with 22,232 tons (9.0%, up 35.6%), China with 19,923 tons (8.1%, up 88.0%), India with 12,499 tons (5.1%, up 17.7%), and Germany with 11,820 tons (4.8%, down 18.9%).
The average export price of pepper in 2025 is estimated at USD 6,750 per ton, up 28.3% compared with 2024. In December 2025 alone, the average export price stood at USD 6,582 per ton. This figure was unchanged from the previous month but down slightly by 0.4% year on year.
