
According to preliminary data from the Customs Department, in September 2025, the export value of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables reached nearly $1.3 billion. Positively, it showed an increase of 35.9% compared to August 2025 and 41% compared to the same period in 2024.
Accordingly, in the first nine months of 2025, the export turnover of Vietnam’s fruits and vegetables reached approximately $6.11 billion. It went up 8.3% compared to the same period in 2024. This result raises expectations that the fruit and vegetable sector may hit the $8 billion mark in 2025.
In September 2025, the import turnover of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables reached $234.342 million. This showed an increase of 2.6% compared to August 2025 and 5.8% compared to the same period last year.
In total, for the first nine months of the year, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable imports exceeded $1.9 billion. It went up 15.1% compared to the same period in 2024. Specifically, in September 2025 alone, the fruit and vegetable trade surplus exceeded $1 billion. For the first nine months of 2025, the trade surplus surpassed $4.2 billion.

Vietnamese fruits and vegetables
In September 2025, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports recovered as the country improved control over quality and export procedures. In addition, businesses have made efforts to diversify markets and reduce dependence on traditional ones. Export turnover to several major markets increased, including China, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand.
In the first eight months of 2025, China remained Vietnam’s largest fruit and vegetable export market, accounting for 57.9% of total export value. Next markets are the United States and South Korea, accounting for 7.5% and 4.4%, respectively.
During this period, exports to China decreased by 9.3% compared to the same period in 2024. However, exports to the United States, Japan, the Netherlands, and others saw strong growth.
