
In the first nine months of 2025, Vietnamese pepper exports reached over $1.26 billion. They showed a increase of 27.6% compared to the same period last year.
In September, Vietnam exported 20,487 tons of various types of pepper, with a turnover of $136.3 million. These figures decreased by 4.6% and 2.5% respectively compared to the previous month. However, they strongly increased by 19.5% in volume and 23.2% in value compared to September 2024.

Vietnamese pepper exports
The average prices of Vietnamese pepper exports continued to rise. Prices of black pepper reached $6,490 per ton, up 2.4% from the previous month. Meanwhile, white pepper prices reached $8,679 per ton, up 1.4%.
In the global market, the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) increased nearly 3% to $7,225 per ton. Vietnam’s pepper prices remained stable at around $6,700 per ton. Positively, they created a competitive advantage compared to several other major producing countries.
Cumulatively, for the first 9 months, Vietnam exported 186,997 tons of pepper. The export value went down 6.9% but up 27.6% in turnover, reaching over $1.26 billion.

Black pepper from Vietnam
The average export prices of Vietnamese pepper increased significantly. Specifically, black pepper prices reached $6,647 per ton and white pepper prices reached $8,716 per ton.
The United States remains the largest import market for Vietnamese pepper exports. The United States accounted for 21.4% of total export volume, reaching 39,979 tons. The volume decreased by 30.4% compared to the same period.
In contrast, China recorded an impressive increase of 73.3%. Chinese market imported 15,353 tons, accounting for 8.2% of the market share.

White pepper from Vietnam
The UAE reached 14,848 tons (up 12.8%), while India and many European countries maintained stable growth. The export market structure is shifting positively, with Asia and the Middle East emerging as new potential consumption areas.
The upward trend in prices along with recovering demand in many major markets is a favorable signal for Vietnam’s pepper exports in the last months of the year. However, experts recommend that Vietnamese export businesses of pepper closely monitor global price fluctuations, optimize raw material sources. Moreover, they should strengthen deep processing to increase value of Vietnamese pepper exports.
