In terms of structure, robusta remains the “backbone” of the industry with nearly 950,000 tons exported, worth $4.9 billion. Meanwhile, arabica and processed coffee have emerged as highlights. Notably, arabica doubled its export value, and processed coffee brought in more than $1.18 billion, up by 63%. This indicates that the strategy of promoting deep processing is beginning to yield results.
International coffee prices are also at high levels. On October 1, robusta coffee in the London exchange hit $4,200 per ton. In the meanwhile, arabia coffee in New York surged to $8,258 per ton. The price increase is driven by a weakening US dollar and supply disruptions in Brazil and Indonesia.

The United States has recently imposed a 50% countervailing duty on Brazilian goods, making Brazilian coffee more expensive. This move is a major opportunity for Vietnamese coffee to gain more market share.
In Europe, the implementation deadline for the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) has been postponed until the end of 2026. Vietnam is currently one of the few coffee-exporting suppliers that has prepared to meet the new standards, further solidifying its position in this market.
Despite the promising outlook, Vietnam’s coffee industry still faces many challenges. According to export businesses, while high export prices have led to record revenues. However, issues such as upgrading processing capacity, standardizing quality, and building a national brand remain unresolved.
