Vietnam’s chili pepper exports post strong and impressive growth

According to preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in January 2026 Vietnam exported nearly 500 tons of chili peppers, generating export turnover of USD 1.3 million. Compared to December 2025, export volume increased by 50.3%, and compared to January 2025, it rose by 46.8%.

This is a notable increase amid ongoing volatility in the global spice market.

In terms of market structure, Laos remained the largest destination, importing 216 tons and accounting for 43.3% of total export volume. Cambodia ranked second with 121 tons, representing 24.2%. Other markets included the United States with 31 tons, South Korea with 24 tons, and both Japan and the United Kingdom with 13 tons each. These figures indicate that Vietnamese chili exports maintain a relatively diversified market presence rather than relying on a single destination.

From a business perspective, total chili export volume in January 2026 reached nearly 500 tons, a sharp increase compared to 332 tons in December 2025 and 340 tons in January 2025.

Several companies recorded significant export volumes, including Thai Duy Nhan with 62 tons, Uu Viet Import-Export with 57 tons, Nedspice Vietnam with 47 tons, and Dong Chan with 40 tons. Many other enterprises also reported positive growth, contributing to the overall upbeat picture.

The strong growth momentum in the first month of 2026 is an important signal, raising expectations that the chili export sector will maintain stable export performance, increase value, and further expand markets throughout 2026.
