In the first nine months of the year, Vietnamese ginger exports reached $26 million. This was a threefold increase in relation to the same period last year.
This data was recently compiled by the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association. Accordingly, Vietnamese ginger is becoming popular in Australia, India, Pakistan, and European countries.
Vietnamese ginger exports
In Australia, frozen Vietnamese ginger is now available in supermarkets, stores, and online platforms. The price of Vietnamese ginger in Australia ranges from AUD 9 to 13 per kilogram (approximately VND 150,000–200,000). The packing of ginger is mainly in 0.5 kg or 1 kg portions, primarily catering to restaurants.
In addition to frozen ginger, processed ginger products from Vietnam are also seeing strong consumption. In particular, candied ginger is a highly popular item in colder regions.

Export enterprises of Vietnam’s ginger report that toward the end of the year, there has been a surge in ginger orders from markets such as the U.S., India, the UAE, and Pakistan, pushing prices to record highs.
At local farms, the purchasing prices of ginger are for VND 20,000–26,000 per kilogram, depending on the type. Export-grade ginger can fetch up to VND 30,000 per kilogram.

According to Vietnam’s trade offices in Australia and India, the potential for Vietnamese ginger exports to these markets is substantial. The product is also price-competitive in relation to ginger from other countries. Besides its fragrant aroma and good taste, Vietnamese ginger is also more affordable than domestic varieties in many markets.
In addition to ginger, Vietnamese exports of chili peppers, eggplants, and other vegetables are also showing positive growth, with year-on-year increases of 20–60%.
