According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province, local farmers have completed the early planting of nearly 480 hectares of Vietgap carrots for the winter crop this year.
As of October 22nd, Cam Giang district had basically completed the planting of over 800 hectares of various winter crops. It has reached 80% of the planned production target. Of this, key crops such as carrots, sticky corn, sweet corn, wax gourd, and pumpkin accounted for 77% of the area.

Vietgap carrots
Among the planted winter crops, there were nearly 480 hectares of early Vietgap carrots. Specifically, they mainly concentrated in the communes of Duc Chinh, Cam Van, Cam Vu, and Cao An. Notably, early-harvest carrots usually fetch prices 50–70% higher than those harvested in the main season.
Right from the beginning of the crop, large-scale production cooperatives and farming households have strengthened production linkages. Also, they signed product consumption contracts with enterprises to avoid the situation of bumper crops being sold at low prices.
In addition to Vietgap carrots, local farmers have maintained and expanded areas of other vegetables. Notably, they have applied Vietgap, Globalgap, and organic farming practices. This aims to improve awareness of safe production and preliminary processing methods to ensure stable consumption.

District agricultural specialists are actively promoting and advising farmers to continue planting crops that are still within the seasonal window. Specifically, they are potatoes, sweet potatoes, kohlrabi, cabbage, and cauliflower. At the same time, they are encouraging local farmers to clean the fields and enhance plant protection.
For this winter crop, Cam Giang district plans to cultivate 1,070 hectares, an increase of 5% compared to the same period last year. It has aimed for a production value of 210 million VND per hectare, an increase of about 10%, to offset the damage caused by the recent Typhoon.
