Organic tea, regional specialty teas, and minimally processed teas are growing rapidly in many developed markets. Additionally, teas with origins linked to cultural stories are also gaining strong popularity. As a result, Vietnam’s tea sector reaches a new level of status in the world.

In December 2025, Vietnam exported 13,844 tons of tea, earning nearly USD 24 million. This figure was up 5.3% in volume and 9.6% in value in comparison with the same period in 2024.

For the whole of 2025, Vietnamese tea exports reached a total of 136,952 tons, valued at nearly USD 238 million. Accordingly, this represented a decrease of 7.1% in volume and 7.2% in value compared with 2024. The average export price of tea in 2025 reached USD 1,737 per ton, down 0.1% from 2024.

Vietnam’s tea sector to several other markets in 2025 recorded impressive growth in both volume and value. These markets included Malaysia, India, the Philippines, and Iraq. Among these, exports to Iraq saw the strongest increase. They were up 51% in volume and 49.8% in value in comparison with 2024.

Meanwhile, Vietnam’s tea export volumes to its two largest markets—Pakistan and Taiwan—both declined. However, in terms of value, exports to Pakistan decreased, while exports to Taiwan increased.

In terms of volume share, tea exports to Pakistan accounted for 30.1% of Vietnam’s total tea exports in 2025. Accordingly, this figure was down from 35.2% in 2024. In addition, exports to Taiwan remained stable at 10.2%. Market shares also increased in several other destinations, including China, Malaysia, Iraq, and India.

In 2026, Vietnamese tea sector is entering a phase marked by significant changes. Specifically, Vietnamese tea companies are facing an opportunity to transform from being “strong in volume” to “strong in quality.” At the same time, the industry is shifting from supplying raw materials to creating higher added value and building brands.

Amid rapid global market fluctuations, shifting consumer trends, and increasingly stringent quality requirements, 2026 is considered a pivotal year. It is a year for the Vietnamese tea sector to establish a new position.

One of the strongest growth drivers for Vietnam’s tea industry in 2026 comes from changes in global consumer behavior. Consumers are increasingly focused on products that offer health benefits, have natural origins, are sustainably cultivated, and provide transparent information.

Product segments such as organic tea, regional specialty teas, minimally processed teas, and teas with origins linked to cultural stories are growing rapidly in many developed markets, including Taiwan. This trend presents a significant opportunity for Vietnam’s tea exports to accelerate further in the coming period.

Based on market signals, 2026 is likely to be a critical turning point for Vietnamese tea sector. The industry is expected to restructure toward improving quality and building brands. As a result, it will deeply tap into sustainable consumer segments, thereby gradually reinforcing a new position on the global tea map.
