
In February 2026, Vietnam’s coffee exports to Japan reached 7.1 thousand tons, valued at USD 38.4 million. This figure was down 47.5% in volume and 44.2% in value in comparision to January 2026. Compared to February 2025, exports decreased by 35.5% in volume and 43.4% in value. Notably, Robusta coffee exports were the largest export type. Accordingly, they accounted for 63.0% of the total value of Vietnam’s coffee exports to the Japanese market.
In the first two months, Vietnam exported 20.6 thousand tons of coffee to Japan, worth USD 107.4 million. This represented a slight decline of 0.6% in volume compared to the same period in 2025. However, the value represented a sharp drop of 15.8%, mainly due to a significant decrease in export prices.

Robusta coffee exports
The structure of Vietnam’s coffee exports to the Japanese market continued to focus on Robusta coffee. At the same time, it maintained a notable share of high value-added processed coffee products. Specifically, Robusta coffee exports accounted for the largest share. Accordingly, they made up 63.0% of total export value to Japan during this period.
In February 2026, the average export price of Vietnam’s coffee to Japan reached USD 5,425 per ton. This was up 6.1% in comparison to January 2026. However, it decreased by 12.1% compared to February 2025.
In the first two months, the average export price of Vietnam’s coffee to Japan stood at USD 5,219 per ton. This was down 15.3% in comparison to the same period in 2025.
In January 2026, Japan’s coffee imports reached 30.7 thousand tons, valued at USD 222.3 million. This was up 4.0% in volume and 33.3% in value in comparison to January 2025.
In January 2026, Japan’s average coffee import price from the world reached USD 7,229 per ton. This showed an increase of 28.2% compared to January 2025. In addition, the average import price from major supplying markets also increased compared to the same period.
Meanwhile, the average import price of coffee from Vietnam decreased by 12.5% compared to January 2025. As a result, it fell to USD 4,697 per ton.
In January 2026, Japan imported coffee from 38 countries and territories worldwide. During this period, Japan reduced its coffee imports from markets such as Vietnam and Tanzania, while increasing imports from Brazil, Colombia, and Peru.

Coffee exports to Japan
Brazil was the largest coffee supplier to Japan in the first month of 2026, with exports reaching 13.6 thousand tons, valued at USD 103.3 million. This was up 19.2% in volume and 83.6% in value in comparison to January 2025. Meanwhile, Brazil’s share in Japan’s total coffee import volume rose from 38.48% in January 2025 to 44.09% in January 2026.
Vietnam was the second-largest coffee supplier to Japan in January 2026, with exports reaching 9.1 thousand tons, valued at USD 42.7 million. This was down 2.8% in volume and 14.9% in value in comparison to January 2025. At the same time, Vietnam’s share in Japan’s total coffee import volume declined from 31.61% in January 2025 to 29.56% in January 2026.
Colombia ranked as the third-largest coffee supplier to Japan in January 2026, with exports totaling 3.2 thousand tons, valued at USD 29.0 million. This was up 48.8% in volume and 107.2% in value compared to January 2025. Meanwhile, Colombia’s share in Japan’s total coffee import volume increased from 7.28% in January 2025 to 10.41% in January 2026.
