The Ministry of Industry and Trade is implementing a range of measures to support Vietnam’s lychee exports for the 2026 crop season. This comes in the context of expected higher production and continued expansion of export markets.
The measures focus on improving logistics flow, facilitating customs clearance, promoting trade activities, and enhancing product quality. These actions aim to ensure stable market outlets for farmers.
The Import-Export Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade has recently isued the Official Document No. 600/XNK-NH. According to this document, relevant agencies should closely coordinate to support the procurement, transportation, and export of fresh lychees during the peak harvest period.

Accordingly, the Border Guard forces at border gates should prioritize customs clearance and plant quarantine procedures for fresh lychees. These agencies must proactively arrange manpower and strengthen inspection equipment. The purpose is to shorten processing time and minimize congestion at border areas for Vietnam’s lychee exports.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade also requested competent authorities to regularly exchange information with Chinese counterparts. This is to quickly update requirements related to quality standards, traceability, and quarantine regulations. The goal is to enable Vietnamese lychee businesses to proactively comply with import requirements.
For Departments of Industry and Trade in northern border provinces, the key task is to closely monitor cargo flow and coordinate the regulation of transport vehicles in line with actual clearance capacity. Local authorities should support businesses in issuing certificates of origin. They also should accelerate administrative reforms to reduce time and costs associated with export activities.
For major producing areas such as Bắc Ninh and Hải Phòng, authorities are encouraged to work with enterprises, cooperatives, and traders to develop appropriate purchasing plans. This is to avoid speculative buying, price squeezing, or congestion during the peak season.

In addition to road transport, the Ministry encourages businesses to expand alternative transport modes such as rail and air freight. This helps reduce pressure on road border gates and improve product preservation during transit.
Also, the Ministry is strengthening trade promotion activities to expand Vietnam’s lychee exports. Localities and enterprises should boost promotion on e-commerce platforms. They also should connect with supermarket systems, wholesale markets, and foreign importers to diversify distribution channels.
The Ministry also emphasizes improving packaging quality and product design. It also highlights the need to strengthen traceability systems to meet increasingly strict technical standards from importing markets.
The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association should coordinate closely with businesses, cooperatives, and local authorities. This is to update consumption trends and promptly report emerging difficulties for timely solutions.

The association should provide market information and import demand data. It is also responsible for updating technical regulations from different countries. This helps Vietnamese export businesses proactively plan production and export strategies more effectively.
In addition, enterprises are encouraged to invest more heavily in pre-processing technology, cold storage, deep processing, and modern packaging. This helps extend shelf life, increase product value, and enhance the competitiveness of Vietnamese lychees in the international market.
The synchronized implementation of solutions from production, logistics, to trade promotion is expected to facilitate smooth consumption of lychees in the 2026 season. It also contributes to higher farmer incomes and promotes agricultural export growth this year.
