Đồng Nai Province owns nearly 21,000 hectares of banana cultivation. In which, more than 80% of its output are serving export markets. Therefore, the province is gradually affirming its position of Vietnamese banana exports in the international market.

Recently, Đồng Nai organized the 2026 Banana Export and Agricultural Export Promotion Ceremony in Bàu Hàm Commune. The event attracted the participation of businesses, cooperatives, and producers of Vietnamese bananas. As a result, it created opportunities to connect the value chain from production to consumption and promote the export of the province’s key agricultural products.

At the ceremony, 11 containers carrying a total of 220 tons of Cavendish bananas were ready to export. These markets are Japan, China, and South Korea that require strict requirements regarding quality, food safety, and traceability. This demonstrates the growing ability of Dong Nai’s banana industry to meet international standards.

Currently, Đồng Nai has nearly 21,000 hectares of banana cultivation, with annual output exceeding 900,000 tons. The average yield reaches about 55 tons per hectare. The province has been granted 54 banana-growing area codes covering nearly 7,300 hectares, along with 37 export banana packing facility codes. There are around 80% of the province’s banana output is for export markets. Key destinations for Vietnamese banana exports include China, South Korea, Japan, and Malaysia.

Its large-scale production capacity has helped Đồng Nai become one of the country’s leading localities in Vietnamese bananas. Also, increasingly professional management systems for cultivation areas and packing facilities have contributed to its strong export turnover. In addition, the province is gradually developing large-scale specialized commercial banana-growing zones.

Beyond export activities, the ceremony also carried significant trade promotion value. It helped introduce fresh bananas and other key agricultural products of Đồng Nai Province to international markets.

Through the event, stakeholders had opportunities to exchange experience in agricultural production and business. They could also strengthen linkages between farmers and enterprises and gradually build sustainable agricultural value chains. This is also an important condition for expanding consumption markets and increasing the added value of Vietnamese agricultural products.

The ceremony marked an important milestone in promoting the locality’s key high-quality fruit products. It also served as a bridge connecting policymakers, scientists, businesses, and farmers. Through this connection, they could learn from one another, strengthen cooperation, and expand markets. In the coming period, the agricultural sector will continue planning concentrated production areas associated with brand development and export market diversification.

In 2026, Đồng Nai Province continues to set goals to boost Vietnamese banana exports. This effort contributes to positioning bananas in particular and the fresh fruit industry in general on the global agricultural trade map.

Although the global economic situation remains volatile, Vietnamese banana export enterprises in the province have continued to record positive signals. Both export volume and export value in the first months of 2026 increased compared to the same period last year. This indicates that international demand for Vietnamese bananas remains high.

Export banana prices loaded into containers by enterprises currently range from VND 19,000 to 20,000 per kilogram. This creates incentives for farmers to expand cultivation areas and invest in improving product quality. Input costs have risen due to fluctuations in the global market. However, Vietnam’s fruit businesses are still striving to secure supply sources, maintain export orders, and further expand consumption markets.

Notably, in addition to traditional markets such as China, many Vietnamese fruits enterprises have gradually expanded exports to new regional markets. This helps diversify export destinations and reduce dependence on several major markets.

Experts believe that the growing trend toward safe agricultural products with clear traceability is creating many opportunities for Vietnam’s banana export industry. In particular, Đồng Nai is hopeful to benefit significantly from this trend.

Despite the achievements, the banana export sector is also facing numerous challenges. In particular, requirements regarding quality, food safety, and disease prevention in cultivation are becoming increasingly strict.

One of the major concerns at present is the risk of diseases affecting banana plants, particularly Panama disease. This could negatively impact both productivity and product quality of Vietnamese fresh bananas. Therefore, research and selection of disease-resistant banana varieties suitable for local soil conditions have become urgent requirements. These measures are necessary to ensure the sustainable development of the industry.

In addition, compliance with safe production processes, maintaining detailed production records, and implementing product traceability are mandatory requirements. These standards are necessary to meet export market requirements.

To develop the banana industry sustainably, production needs to be reorganized through integrated value chains covering seedling production, cultivation, harvesting, packaging, and export activities. At the same time, greater application of digital technology is needed in production management, traceability systems, and product quality management.

In the coming period, Đồng Nai will continue implementing policies to support the development of production linkages. The province will also encourage businesses and farmers to invest in export-standard cultivation areas. As a result, the added value of Vietnamese banana exports is expected to gradually increase.
