Exporting Vietnamese fruit and vegetable to EU increased sharply

In the first 9 months of 2017, Vietnamese fruit and vegetable export turnover was about $ 2.6 billion. This increased by 44.2% over the same period of 2016. However, fruit and vegetable imports reached about $ 1.1 billion. Therefore, Vietnamese fruit and vegetable export had a trade surplus of more than $ 1.4 billion.

Currently, Vietnam has export fruits and vegetables to all countries in EU. The Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exported to the EU include 19 processed fruits and vegetables. They were mainly lemon juice, pineapple juice, grilled ginger, and coconut milk. Vietnam also exported 16 main fresh fruit items including seedless lime, dragon fruit, mango, pineapples.

In addition, Vietnam exported more than 30 items of fresh vegetables and fresh spices. Experts predicted that exports of Vietnamese fruit and vegetable would increase sharply in the coming time.

Unlike many tough markets like USA, Australia, New Zealand… Vietnamese fruit and vegetable are imported by negotitating and analyzing elements in each product, all kinds fresh fruits of Vietnam are imported into EU market. However, Vietnamese fruit and vegetable shall meet the requirements of food hygiene and safety. Moreover, Vietnam should improve the quality of products and increase promotion.

According economic expertises, Vietnamese enterprises that produce products have to comply HACCP or GlobalGAP standards. Currently, GlobalGap has become the minimum standard for supermarkets in EU. This is the standard that covers the whole production process.

In addition, EU market also focuses on pesticide residue and quality of the finished products. Quality should be the first priority. For example, prohibition of a pesticide use does not contain any of the residues in each product.
