Tai Hoan konjac vermicelli is a five-star OCOP product and a pride of Bac Kan province. It has earned the trust of numerous domestic consumers and is also available in the European market.
Tai Hoan konjac vermicelli is a product of Tai Hoan Cooperative (HTX). The cooperative located in Che Co Hamlet, Con Minh Commune, Na Ry District, Bac Kan Province. Tai Hoan canna vermicelli has been a traditional product made since 1965. It is produced manually on a small scale with modest output. In 2018, Tai Hoan Cooperative was officially established with 14 members. Its aim was to improve the quality of konjac vermicelli and expand its market.
Since 2018, Tai Hoan canna noodles have participated in the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) program. They have initially received a 3-star OCOP product. By 2021, the cooperative received the national 5-star OCOP recognition. Then, it became the only product of its kind and a pride of Bac Kan Province.

Today, Tai Hoan konjac vermicelli comes in attractive packaging with full labeling in accordance with regulations. The product has passed food safety tests, without additives and no preservatives. Currently, Tai Hoan Cooperative produces over 200 tons of konjac vermicelli per year, which is widely popular across Vietnam.
Ms. Do Thi Minh Hoa is the Vice Chairwoman of the Bac Kan Provincial People’s Committee. She stated that the implementation of the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) program has achieved initial successes. They have received positive feedbacks from the market.
Among them, Tai Hoan konjac vermicelli received a 5-star OCOP product by the National OCOP Council. It became the first product in Bac Kan Province to receive this title. The product is not only popular domestically but has also been available to the European market. This success serves as a foundation for Bac Kan to develop other unique, high-quality local products.
Recently, the leadership of Bac Kan Province has been very proactive in promoting the province’s specialty agricultural products both domestically and internationally. Through these trade promotion activities, the Tai Hoan konjac vermicelli brand has met market demands in terms of packaging and quality. As a result, it has gained popularity among consumers. Consequently, foreign businesses have initiated the import of the Vietnamese vermicelli to the European market.
After multiple rounds of testing for pesticide residues and harmful substances, Tai Hoan canna vermicelli has confirmed to meet product quality and safety standards. Therefore, it has received approval to enter into the Czech market specifically and to the highly demanding European market in general. In 2020, the first container of Tai Hoan Cooperative’s vermicelli products arrived successfully. Despite the severe global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on international trade, the cooperative has continued to maintain stable operations.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoan is the Director of Tai Hoan Cooperative. She shared: “Securing this export order was a journey of more than a year of effort. The cooperative sent multiple product samples for quality testing, perfected the packaging, and completed export-import procedures. Tai Hoan konjac vermicelli exported to the Czech Republic is strictly quality-controlled, with transparent sourcing throughout the production process. We are very confident about this.”
Ms. Hoan also added: “Currently, we grow raw materials in five communes in Na Ry District. The cooperative has agreements to purchase products from 360 ethnic minority households, covering about 50 hectares of konjac cultivation. This produces roughly 3,400 tons of tubers. I hope that Bac Kan canna noodles will be increasingly popular by consumers both across the country and in international markets. This not only helps stabilize production for the cooperative but also creates stable employment and improves the livelihoods of farmers.”
As Ms. Hoan shared, reaching today’s achievements is also thanks to Tai Hoan Cooperative’s proactive participation in the OCOP program from its inception. To achieve a 3-star rating and later 4 stars, and now 5 stars, the cooperative has continually improved its production methods and product quality. The cooperative have focused on advanced quality management, food safety, traceability and packaging and labeling.
Additionally, it has paid attention to environmental factors in production, as well as knowledge of trade promotion and sales. These aspects have increasingly refined to meet market demands. Only through these efforts can Tai Hoan konjac vermicelli meet the standards required for supplying shopping centers, agricultural supply chains, participating in e-commerce platforms, and selling on social media.

Canna root – raw materials for producing Tai Hoan konjac vermicelli
Tài Hoan konjac vermicelli is now available on wholesale markets and Big C supermarkets across northern Vietnam. Also, it is available on several international supermarkets and local markets for Vietnamese communities in European countries. As a result, year-on-year sales have grown significantly. For example, in 2019, sales increased by 200% compared to 2018, rising from 100 tons to 200 tons.
Thanks to a stable customer base and market, Tai Hoan Cooperative has proactively signed agreements to purchase konjac tubers from local households in Na Ry District. This ensures a steady supply of raw materials for production. The cooperative has been recognized by the province for strictly honoring these contracts with local growers in terms of quantity and price. This practice has contributed to increasing the value chain of konjac products in Bac Kan Province. It has also created jobs and raised incomes for thousands of ethnic minority residents.
Through these agreements for raw material consumption, Tai Hoan Cooperative has gradually established a value chain. It ranges from planning and production practices to processing and marketing the finished products. The raw material purchase agreements have not only promoted production but also facilitated the implementation of programs and projects supporting local residents in the cooperative’s raw material areas.
During its development, Tai Hoan Cooperative has promoted the processing of konjac vermicelli as a commercial product. It has gradually invested in modern production technologies while considering environmental protection. The cooperative has also focused on product quality, improved knowledge of business management, and enhanced trade promotion efforts. These initiatives have enabled it to leverage internal strengths for continuous growth.
