Vietnam is currently among the world’s top 10 producers and exporters of passion fruit. Over the past five years, both the production volume and export value of Vietnamese passion fruit have increased by approximately 300%. Vietnam now ranks among the top 10 passion fruit-producing and exporting countries worldwide.

Passion fruit is becoming one of Vietnam’s fastest-growing fruit and vegetable commodities. It is likely to soon join the country’s billion-dollar agricultural export club.

In April 2026 alone, Vietnam’s passion fruit exports reached nearly USD 29 million. Accordingly, they went up 60% compared to the same period last year. In the first four months of the year, export turnover exceeded USD 76 million, marking an increase of nearly 40%.

Passion fruit is widely consumed as fresh fruit. In addition, it serves as an important ingredient in the production of beverages, confectionery, ice cream, and various processed products.

Demand from major markets such as the European Union and China is growing steadily. As a result, the industry is gaining strong momentum for continued expansion. This trend supports its goal of becoming one of Vietnam’s billion-dollar agricultural export sectors in the future.

Passion fruit products such as juice, syrup, and concentrated passion fruit are gaining popularity in an increasing number of international markets. As global demand continues to rise, passion fruit is gaining greater opportunities in international markets.

It is likely to become one of the country’s leading fruit and vegetable export commodities in the coming years. Vietnam’s advantages in deep processing and a steadily expanding network of export-oriented enterprises support this outlook.

Vietnamese passion fruit juice

Vietnam’s exporters of passion fruit are benefiting from a range of favorable conditions for growth. In particular, Vietnamese passion fruit enterprises involved throughout the entire value chain, from variety research and raw material area development to processing and export. This integrated approach is one of the key factors enhancing the product’s value and competitiveness in international markets.

Vietnam has more than 12,000 hectares of passion fruit cultivation and an annual output of around 200,000 tons. As a result, the crop is generating significant economic benefits for many localities across the country.

The Central Highlands is currently Vietnam’s largest passion fruit-growing region. It accounts for more than 86% of the cultivated area and over 92% of total production. Meanwhile, the provinces of Nghe An and Son La are also expanding cultivation areas to meet growing market demand.

Passion fruit has strong advantages in raw material supply, deep-processing capacity, and growing global demand. Therefore, many industry experts consider it a leading candidate to become Vietnam’s next billion-dollar agricultural export commodity.
