To boost trade promotion of Vietnamese carrot exports, a conference was held on October 26 in Hai Duong province. Notably, the conference aimed to connect local carrot producers with Vietnamese trade missions and international enterprises.

Mr. Tai, Deputy Director of the Trade Promotion Agency, emphasized Vietnam’s significant carrot export potential. In addition, demand for global preference for organic products has been increasing. To enhance competitiveness in the huge markets, he urged Hai Duong to restructure carrot farming areas. Namely, the province should expand organic farming and strictly control pesticide residues under food safety requirements.

Additionally, Hai Duong should attract investment in high-value chains and broaden market access for its carrots. Enterprises and cooperatives should leverage technology and establish supply chains to strengthen export capacity.

The Trade Promotion Agency pledged to provide market insights and consumption trends. On the other hands, this agency also assisted in diversifying promotion channels for exporting fresh carrots.

Currently, Hai Duong has eight primary agricultural products. In which, fresh carrot is the key agricultural product, with 1,500 hectares producing 70,000 tons annually. Approximately 70% of Hai Duong carrots are exported to markets like South Korea, Malaysia and the Middle East. While the remaining amount is for domestic consumption.

Mr. Quan, Vice Chairman of Hai Duong province, highlighted the province has boosted trade promotion activities, recently. Also, the province found solutions for difficulties in plantation and production processes. In addition, they supported enterprises’ participation in international trade fairs, and conduct market surveys to expand consumption markets for Vietnamese carrot exports.

Mr. Thuat, Director of Duc Chinh Cooperative, expressed farmers’ need for cold storage and processing facilities to enhance carrot value.

At the conference, international delegates shared insights on consumer preferences and technical standards in markets like Malaysia, UAE, and Singapore. Hai Duong should increase the international presence of its products and participate actively in global trade fairs.

Hai Duong’s Director of Industry and Trade, Mr. Hao, committed to maintaining domestic markets while expanding Vietnamese carrot exports to potential regions. The Trade Promotion Agency would to support the province in market expansion, especially for carrots and lychees.

The event concluded with the signing of memorandums of understanding between carrot cooperatives and agricultural export enterprises, solidifying cooperation in production and trade.
