
Producing Vietnamese organic asparagus through high-tech cultivation and water-saving irrigation systems has become a major strategy in the province’s agricultural restructuring efforts. By making efficient use of local water resources, the model not only improves production efficiency but also supports long-term environmental sustainability.
In addition, harvest residues and agricultural by-products are recycled into organic compost. This compost is later used to enrich the soil for future growing seasons. This circular farming approach reduces waste while promoting more sustainable agricultural production.

In 2021, under the National Agricultural Extension Project, a Vietnamese vegetable enterprise established a 4-hectare organic green asparagus cultivation model in Nha Hố Hamlet, Nhơn Sơn Commune, Ninh Sơn District, Ninh Thuận Province. The project transformed low-yield rice fields and other annual cropland into organically managed asparagus farms.
Besides increasing the economic value of the land, the initiative of Vietnamese organic asparagus will minimize environmental impacts. It protects soil quality and conserves local water resources.

Farmers participating in the Vietnamese organic asparagus model strictly follow technical guidelines that comply with Vietgap standards. All agricultural inputs should follow approved production procedures. This helps ensure both product quality and environmental safety.
Farmers use only permitted biological plant protection products and pesticides under current regulations. They also manage pests and diseases using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices. These practices help reduce dependence on chemical pesticides while maintaining healthy crop growth.
In addition, the cultivation model emphasizes the use of environmentally friendly fertilizers. Farmers apply only treated organic fertilizers together with water-soluble fertilizers supplied through the irrigation system. Delivering nutrients through irrigation improves fertilizer efficiency, reduces nutrient losses, and supports healthy plant development.

At the same time, the increased use of organic fertilizers helps restore soil fertility, improve soil structure, and enhance the activity of beneficial microorganisms. By reducing reliance on inorganic fertilizers, the model also contributes to lowering greenhouse gas emissions associated with agricultural production. As a result, Vietnamese organic asparagus becomes more sustainable and environmentally responsible.
