Vietnam’s produce exports have maintained strong growth momentum in 2026, with export turnover continuing to reach new highs. This performance reflects robust demand from key markets. It also highlights the expanding potential of Vietnamese tropical fruits in the global market.
According to the Vietnam Customs Department, Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports reached USD 388.45 million in the first half of June 2026. Cumulative exports from the beginning of the year to June 15 totaled USD 3.156 billion. This further reinforced the sector’s position as one of the fastest-growing segments of Vietnam’s agricultural industry.
In May 2026, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports reached USD 712.5 million, up 33.4% from April 2026 and 15.8% compared with May 2025. This marked the highest monthly export value recorded since the beginning of 2026. In the first five months of the year, total fruit and vegetable exports amounted to USD 2.768 billion. This represented an increase of 20.4% compared with the same period in 2025.
The top 10 import markets for Vietnamese produce exports during the first five months of 2026 were China, the United States, South Korea, Japan, the Netherlands, Taiwan (China), Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Germany. Combined exports to these markets reached approximately USD 2.82 billion. They accounted for the majority of Vietnamese fresh enterprises.

Vietnam’s produce exports
China remained the largest market for Vietnam’s produce exports. According to the Import-Export Department, the market accounted for 51.2% of Vietnam’s total fruit and vegetable export value in the first five months of 2026.
In May 2026 alone, fruit and vegetable exports to China reached USD 398.07 million. This represented an increase of 55.7% from the previous month and 19.8% compared with May 2025. Cumulative exports to China in the first five months of the year totaled USD 1.42 billion. This represented an increase of 27.9% year on year.
With export turnover exceeding USD 1.4 billion, China remained the most important growth driver for Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable industry. Demand for tropical fruits in the market of more than 1.4 billion people remained strong. This was supported by the expanding middle class and rising consumer preference for fresh produce and processed fruit products.
The United States ranked second among Vietnam’s export markets, with imports worth approximately USD 233 million. This was up 12.1% from the same period in 2025. South Korea ranked third with imports exceeding USD 141 million, followed by Japan at USD 100.17 million. Japan’s imports increased by 3.3% year on year.
In Europe, the Netherlands continued to stand out, with imports reaching nearly USD 87.02 million. This represented an increase of almost 48% compared with the same period last year. Germany ranked tenth but still posted growth of nearly 37%. Meanwhile, Malaysia recorded the fastest growth among the top 10 markets. Imports of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables surged 72% year on year.

In contrast, Thailand was the only market in the top 10 to record a decline. During the first five months of 2026, Vietnam’s produce exports to Thailand totaled USD 51.9 million. This was down 18.8% in comparison to the same period in 2025.
According to the International Trade Centre (ITC), Thailand imported USD 980.5 million worth of vegetables, fruits, flowers, roots, tubers, and processed products in the first four months of 2026. This represented a decline of 29.1% from the same period in 2025.
China remained Thailand’s largest supplier, with exports valued at USD 433.7 million. This was up 2.4% year on year. As a result, China’s market share in Thailand’s total imports of these products increased from 30.6% to 44.2%.
Vietnam ranked as Thailand’s third-largest supplier, with exports totaling USD 44.4 million. This was down 21.8% compared with the same period in 2025. Despite the decline in export value, Vietnam’s market share edged up from 4.1% to 4.5% during the first four months of 2026. This indicates that Vietnamese fruit and vegetable products have maintained their competitiveness in the Thai market.
